Chrome’s update frequency is much higher, as compared to the other web browsers. The tech giant keeps introducing numerous services, that is not preffered by every user. Even if such services are in fact added to enhance the user’s experience.

For individuals who want to downgrade Chrome, the execution of various steps is recommended. A user has to perform some modifications to keep benefiting from the selective downgraded version.

How Do I Downgrade and Install Older Version of Chrome?

There are two methods to downgrade Chrome, either use the method provided by Google or take advantage of an unofficial way to install a specific older version of the browser.

Downgrade Chrome without Uninstallation
Users who have installed Chrome on their Windows PC using an MSI file can downgrade the browser, without having to uninstall it. They can simply consult with the command prompt for the execution of the designated command.

a. Launch the search bar and use it to open Command Prompt.

b. Execute the following command in the cmd environment:

msiexec /fvomus GoogleChromeStandaloneEnterprise.msi ALLOWDOWNGRADE=1

c. Open Chrome, and check the currently installed version of the browser.
Install an Older Version of Chrome (Linux, Windows, Mac)
If you prefer to install a particular Chrome version, you should not wait at all, but perform the following steps to complete this task:

a. Click here to visit the Chromium Download Tool.

b. Select a Chrome version of your choice.

c. Download the file and install it.

Note: Ensure that you have uninstalled Chrome from your computer, before performing the aforementioned method.
Stop Chrome from Updating
Every user who has installed an older version of Chrome should now be making preparations to stop it from updating automatically.

For that, they should consult with the System OS to stop the unwanted updating of Chrome. Here are the steps to complete this task on PC:

a. Press the Win + R keys.

b. Type msconfig inside the box and click on Ok.

c. Go to the Services tab.

d. Check the Hide all Microsoft services box.

c. Uncheck the Google Update Service (gupdate) and Google Update Service (gupdatem) boxes from the list of services.
